The new ‘City of the West’ showcases opportunities

Home Infrastructure Property & Development The new ‘City of the West’ showcases opportunities

THE Westown development team and Fundamentum Property Group hosted more than 40 residential, commercial, and industrial brokers and agents at the Westown construction site on 19 March.

The onsite visit aimed to share progress on Westown Square’s construction, bulk infrastructure development and Kassier Rd upgrades. More importantly, it provided information on the developer and end-user opportunities available in this mixed-use lifestyle precinct.

While the current construction focus is firmly on the high-street retail experience of Westown Square, which is due to open in March 2025, this is just the beginning.

Westown is the new City of the West that will roll out over the next 5 – 10 years, generating some R15 billion in investment both in infrastructure and top structures. These top structures take the form of 100 hectares of interconnected precincts, spaces, and experiences that include:

  1. Warehousing and logistics hubs
  2. Commercial and mixed-use spaces
  3. Motor showroom, office and auto-related retail and services
  4. Residential development
  5. A hospital and medical facilities
