MONDI, a leading global packaging and paper manufacturer, has successfully maintained its top ‘A’ scores for forestry and water security in CDP’s 2023 disclosures. The scores confirmed Mondi’s leading practices in both categories and secured a place on CDP’s annual A-List for another year. Mondi has also achieved an ‘A-’ score in climate change.
Gladys Naylor, head of sustainable development at Mondi, comments: “We are pleased to have maintained a place on CDP’s A-List for forestry and water security for another year. The scores are an indication of our efforts to report transparently and reinforce our commitment to procure wood responsibly and safeguard water resources as we deliver against our net-zero GHG emissions reduction targets.”
CDP is an internationally recognised independent sustainability benchmarking platform for environmental disclosures, supporting companies, cities, states and regions to measure and manage their risks and opportunities on climate change, water security and deforestation.
Fully TCFD aligned, CDP holds the largest environmental database in the world, and CDP scores are widely used to drive investment and procurement decisions towards a zero-carbon, sustainable and resilient economy. In 2023, over 740 financial institutions with over US$136 trillion in assets requested companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP’s platform.
Mondi’s business is integrated across the value chain – from managing forests and producing pulp, paper and films, to developing and manufacturing sustainable consumer and industrial packaging solutions using paper where possible, plastic when useful. Sustainability is at the centre of the company’s strategy, with its ambitious commitments to 2030 focused on circular-driven solutions, created by empowered people, taking action on climate.
In 2022, Mondi had revenues of €8.9 billion and underlying EBITDA of €1.8 billion from continuing operations, and employed 22,000 people.
