EMPLOYEES  at Illovo’s sugar South Africa mills have been treated to special celebrations in honour of their hard work during the latest off-crop season. This is the period when major maintenance and capital projects are undertaken to prepare the company’s mills for the upcoming crushing season.

  • Eston Mill’s off-crop is 7 weeks long and the site is expected to start up on 5 March.
  • Noodsberg Mill’s off-crop season began in October 2023 and is the company’s longest at 11 weeks. Noodsberg is expected to start up again on 8 March 2024.
  • Sezela has a 9-week off-crop period and is expected to recommence sugar harvesting on 11 March 2024.

“We’re confident that our off-crop efforts will lead to a smooth and productive harvest season, ensuring optimal sugar production and customer satisfaction,” Illovo Sugar South Africa said in a social media post.
