DANNY Knoesen has been appointed NCT Forestry’s new General Manager effective from 1 July 2020. He succeeds Patrick Kime who retires at the end of June. Knoesen is the present GM of NCT’s wood chipping operations.
“Danny is a proven leader with solid engineering skills, business vision and the ability to bring people together. His experience in business integration, manufacturing and procurement adds value to our unique timber marketing organisation,” said NCT Chairman, Philip Day.
Since joining the co-operative in 2013, Knoesen has spearheaded major strategy and technical shifts across NCT’s wood chipping export operations, most notably the restructuring of its mills.
“This is certainly a most unusual and challenging time to take the helm,” he said. “However, I am buoyed by the fact that, as an entity, we continue to have remarkable and dedicated staff throughout our organisation. Our business fundamentals are sound despite the onerous conditions we face as a company, as well as a country.
“We have managed to pick up new business in the turmoil of international markets, and we continue to aggressively pursue opportunities for our growers,” remarks Knoesen.
Founded in 1949, NCT Forestry is regarded as the largest forestry marketing co-operative in southern Africa.
