CEO of Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA), Chris Campbell, emphasised the significance of the CESA Infrastructure Indaba, held in Cape Town from 19-20 March, saying: “As we navigate the complexities of infrastructure development, it is imperative to prioritise sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity. The Infrastructure Indaba serves as a platform to exchange ideas, share best practices, and drive positive change.”
In this regard, CESA explains that its annual Infrastructure Indaba is an event that promises to be a high-level engagement gathering key stakeholders and clients from the private and public sectors, as well as the engineering fraternity under one roof.
CESA, the industry body representing consulting engineers in South Africa, has organised a dynamic agenda focusing on critical themes shaping the infrastructure landscape. The event features sessions led by prominent figures in the engineering field alongside esteemed panellists from South Africa, Africa and across the globe.
Campbell adds: “The Infrastructure Indaba is a vital platform for fostering collaboration and innovation within the engineering community. We are proud to bring together leading minds to tackle pressing challenges and explore opportunities for sustainable development.”
The conference kicks off with a thought-provoking session titled “Engineering the Future – Protecting Lives and Livelihoods”. This session aims to address the crucial role of engineering in ensuring the safety and prosperity of communities.
Following this, sessions delve into topics such as “Transformation & Capacity Building”; “Infrastructure Upgrade, Investment and Development in an Era of Climate Change”; and “Procurement Strategies: Affordable & Quality Public Infrastructure.” These sessions provide invaluable insights into navigating the complexities of infrastructure projects in an evolving landscape.
One of the highlights of the event is a panel discussion on “Leadership, Technology, and Mental Health – Balancing Act!” This session underscores the importance of fostering a supportive environment for engineers. Additionally, the conference features a session dedicated to “Water and Energy Security,” addressing critical issues surrounding these essential resources.
The event was expected to draw a diverse audience, including government officials, engineers, industry leaders, academics, and young professionals, facilitating meaningful dialogue and collaboration across sectors.
