SAINT-Gobain Construction Products South Africa’s (SGCP) acquisition of Technical Finishes SA has reached closure, paving the way for SGCP to diversify its product portfolio and tap into new segments within the construction industry.
The worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction said that Technical Finishes SA’s (TFSA) expertise within the flooring market complements SGCP’s existing product offerings; creating synergies that can be leveraged for growth both in South Africa and beyond in Africa. “Thanks to TFSA, SGCP will strive to become the leading supplier of specialist epoxy and polyurethane flooring solutions,” SGCP said.
“This strategic move marks an exciting milestone for both companies and for the South African construction market. Saint-Gobain and Technical Finishes are complementary with a shared vision to deliver quality, service, and performance to the flooring and general construction industry in South Africa and in Africa” says Othman Benjelloun-Touimi, CEO of Saint-Gobain sub-Saharan Africa.
In its approval of the acquisition, the Competition Commission of South Africa (CCSA) said that “the merging parties have agreed to a package of remedies including a three-year moratorium on merger-related retrenchments, to increase procurement from historically disadvantaged person (HDP) suppliers and skills transfer”.
