Design tech trainer wins international award for empowering students and educators

AT the International Autodesk Learning Partner Summit held in Istanbul, Turkey, in May 2023, Modena Design Centres was awarded the prestigious KnowledgePoint Fusion 360 award for Education 2023.

Managing director of Modena Durban, Heather McDade, states: “We are incredibly proud and honoured to receive this prestigious award for our unwavering dedication to flying the Autodesk Education flag. With a passion for education, our team has tirelessly driven the Autodesk Education offering, leaving no stone unturned. We will continue to pursue our mission to provide quality training across all facets of education in South Africa.”

McDade continues: “Over the years, we have conducted workshops and provided faculty training at renowned universities like MUT and UKZN, engaging with mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and architecture departments. Through the use of powerful software such as Fusion, Revit, Civil 3D, and Inventor, we have empowered educators and students alike.”

In the past year, Modena Design Centres has successfully trained 45 Engineering and Graphic Design (EDG) educators for the Education Department. The success of this training has led to an ongoing collaboration with the Department on a national plan, solidifying the company’s commitment to education on a larger scale.

Additionally, Modena Design Centres has conducted 12 workshops, equipping 25 students with valuable skills on Autodesk Fusion360. They prioritize the development of young minds, offering school holiday training programs as an elective for high school learners.

The company’s dedication extends beyond universities and schools. Modena has actively supported and participated in the Autodesk First Steps in Your Career Program, assisting numerous students and institutions in registering for their Autodesk Education software and engaging with the education community.

Modena is the only Autodesk Platinum Partner in Africa as well as being an authorised Autodesk training centre, software and services provider. Offering access to professional-level software for education is just one of the many ways that the company shows its commitment to students and educators.

Expanding access to a broad portfolio of design technology, programs, and communities empowers learners to problem-solve design and engineering challenges. Going beyond simple upskilling or reskilling, the company’s focus on future skilling prepares students for our future world.
