High performance partnership earns supply chain award

TESTIMONY to its customer service capabilities, Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC) has been named Supply Chain Services Supplier of the Year 2022 by Africa’s leading branded food services franchisor, Famous Brands.

GLTC has been the materials handling equipment (MHE) supplier of choice for Famous Brands for the past seven years, with a total of 80 different types of machines currently deployed at various Famous Brands locations in the country.

Godfrey Ligaraba, managing executive: logistics at Famous Brands, has lauded GLTC for the exceptional service the company provides to help Famous Brands deliver quality goods and services to its customers.

“The Supply Chain Service Supplier of the Year award is awarded to a Planning, Logistics, Technical and Manufacturing supplier that has helped us operate efficiently in our business. GLTC has met and exceeded its service level agreements (SLA), continues to drive innovation, cost savings and efficiencies within our organisation. They also deliver projects on time and within budget,” says Ligaraba.

For a company that operates in the fast-paced food chain, reliability and uptime are parameters of greater significance. “Famous Brands is a very ‘particular’ customer that places high demands on its suppliers, as it has demanding consumers that enjoy their high-quality products. Equally, GLTC is a brand that places reliable customer service at the top of its priorities. Based on these values, GLTC and Famous Brands are therefore a perfect match,” says Ronald Ryan, Johannesburg branch GM at GLTC.

The Supply Chain Services Supplier of the Year 2022 accolade, explains Ryan, hinged on GLTC’s ability to deliver on time and to Famous Brands’ stringent requirements. GLTC’s flexibility in its product offering and terms was also a major factor.

GLTC’s turnkey solutions approach means that it can offer Famous Brands the flexibility the company needs, by offering options such as outright purchase, short and long-term rental, as well as maintenance plans. This is complemented by its nationwide forklift sales, service, rentals and equipment spares through a comprehensive dealer network.

“This award is testimony that we are a partner to our customers and listen to their needs and match both their current and future requirements to fulfil their delivery promises,” says Ryan.

Over the years, says Ryan, GLTC has forged close relationships with Famous Brands executives, who have been instrumental in cementing the partnership. Managing Executive, Gavin Welsh, played a crucial role in specifying newer types of technology to expedite Famous Brands’ materials handling requirements.

“Adrie Coetser, group logistics services/special projects manager, has been instrumental in driving service expectations and standards, which GLTC has successfully conformed to. As head of procurement, Bill Davies, procurement executive – leading brands, led the initial negotiations between Famous Brands and GLTC. Yugen Chetty, managing executive: manufacturing, created the SLAs between the two companies and oversees the supply and servicing of the MHE fleet,” concludes Ryan.
