ONE of Africa’s largest manufacturers of prefabricated, modular buildings, Kwikspace, has expanded into Richards Bay as the result of the company’s growing relationship with state-owned rail, port and pipeline company, Transnet.
The company, through its Durban branch, supplied units to Transnet. With significant growth and expansion taking place in ports in the Richards Bay area, according to the company. Kwikspace took the opportunity to capitalise on the rental unit market in the area as it has existing customers operating in the region.
Kwikspace says it hopes that the business opportunities acquired through various industries in Richards Bay will lead to further expansion on the Zululand coast. “The opening of this new branch presents the opportunity for the company to supply to the greater KZN area and to grow our market”, says Kwikspace regional manager, David Francis.
Although the company can source any unit, the Richards Bay yard stocks multiple modular buildings, including:
- 7 m x 7 m classrooms
- 6 m x 3 m ablution units
- 6 m x 3 m open plan office units
- 6 m x 3 m storage units
Kwikspace has an established footprint in 27 African countries across the construction, mining, oil & gas, education, healthcare and community service sectors. Established in 1972, the company employs almost 300 people, with a 30 000 sqm manufacturing facility in Kliprivier, Gauteng.
