Local leaders in rigger training

The Rigger Training Academy (RTA) in New Germany has been awarded accreditation by the Quality Council for Trades & Occupations (QCTO), for apprenticeships and trade testing of Occupational Riggers. Trade testing is undertaken at their Leading Rigging & Lifting SDP and Trade Test Centre.

RTA not only specialise in trade testing riggers but also offer skills courses, with more than 300 students having successfully completed the Basic Rigging skills course over the last 10 months.

RTA offers a 3-year leadership or apprenticeship program which includes both theory and practical components. On completion of the program, trade testing is offered. In addition, a two week Basic to Advanced-Rigging Skills programmes is available.

Short Skills Programmes are made up of modules from the learnership qualification, ensuring learners are equipped with knowledge that is current and applicable to the industry-required standards.

RTA’s goal is to upskill as many assistant riggers as possible and assist them to become not just qualified riggers, but well skilled tradesmen. Riggers play an important role in many sectors of local industry.
