West Street store reopens after looting

Retailer Game’s West Street store in Durban, which has been serving customers for over 50 years, is finally open for trade after being affected by the July riots last year.

Not only has the store been repaired, it has also been given a modernised look-and-feel, in line with the other 115 Game stores across the county, featuring a refreshed brand identity for the retailer. “Durban is the home of Game. It’s where we opened our first store 52 years ago and the West Street store is particularly important to the community,” explains Andrew Stein. “Some of our shoppers have been coming to Game since they were children, shopping with their parents – so we wanted to ensure we reopened this store with the latest from Game, which includes a brand-new look, expanded ranges and additional services.”

He explains that Game has given additional floor space to its ‘ownership’ categories, namely TVs, appliances, baby, and wellness, and ensured that these are easy to find when entering the store. “We’ve improved accessibility, navigation and visibility in our store to provide a more seamless and convenient shopping experience for the Game customer,” says Stein. Further, the store features new and expanded categories such as clothing basics and homewares.

Game has also introduced installation services for those customers buying electronics or appliances that require careful installation in their homes, as well as an in-store Tech Squad who will assist customers with set-up, upgrades and troubleshooting on smart phones, tablets and laptops purchased at Game. Convenience is key in the new Game store, where customers can buy airtime, bus tickets, transfer and draw money as well as pay electricity and DStv bills.

“The all-new Game is all about the consumer – and we can’t wait to welcome Durban back into our West Street store,” concludes Stein.
